FAQs
Should my goal include inflation?
Yes. If goal is house in 5 years at ₹50L today, inflate by 5-6% annual: ₹64L needed. Many people set nominal goals and fall short. Always inflate for real-world cost.
What asset allocation for my goal timeline?
1-3 years: 100% debt. 3-5 years: 70% debt, 30% equity. 5-10 years: 50-50. 10+ years: 70-80% equity. Shorter timeframe = less volatility risk. Longer = more growth potential.
What if calculated SIP seems too high?
Reassess: (1) Can you extend timeline 2-3 years? Reduces SIP significantly. (2) Is goal realistic? Maybe ₹40L house vs ₹50L? (3) Can you increase return expectation? Higher-risk funds, but volatility risk. Trade-offs exist.
Should I invest in one fund or multiple for a goal?
Single fund = simplicity, easier tracking. Multiple funds = diversification. For most goals, single fund (aligned with timeline) is better. Exception: large goals where diversifying risk is important.
